This week I had grand plans of making an arrow bracelet inspired by Contemporary Geometric Beadwork and the Pierced Arrow bracelet by Kim Van Antwerp. I thought "Cellini Arrows" would turn out to be a textural and wonderful thing. As many times as I tried, I couldn't quite work out a large increase and make it work. I did manage to make a very "Valentine's Day" bracelet that has a bit of a bumpiness to it!
I used Delicas, some Miyuki 11's and Toho 11's to get the gradual bumps. The bracelet is still pretty flexible, but does have an obvious curve to it. To finish it, I simply connected the starting ends together to form a loop and stitched a small tube from the Delicas to use as a toggle bar.
For next week I am going to experiment and try to revisit this idea in hopes of getting a more dramatic bump, but for my blog post I am going to make a heart. As I took pictures of this bracelet, I started thinking that each section/"arrow" looked like it could be a heart with a few more beads and some creativity. Since Thursday is Valentine's day- my Cellini heart will be right in time :)!
