Last post of 2017!

This is my final Thursday bead post of 2017! This year I covered 40 beading stitches even though I took a hiatus in the middle of the year to participate in Battle of the Beadsmith. After a year of trying stitches, I don't think I have a favorite. I do have a new appreciation for several, including flat spiral and of course, the previously dreaded bead crochet.

There are a few stitches that weren't covered this year because during the battle weeks they were missed or skipped. The missing stitches I had planned to try were: Huichol, Diamond Weave, Kumihimo with beads, Diagonal Peyote, Triangle Weave, and Loom. I may cover some of these in my adventure that will be next year, but even if I don't try them- they still deserve a mention!

On to the plan:
My year to "do something with it"! I think most beaders understand this...

I have been buying beads since before I knew what to do with them- I probably have beads I don't remember buying.  I have a folder full of free PDF's (my quick count was easily over 100). I have almost every Beadwork and Bead & Button magazine since 2008. I have (a number I don't really want to mention) beading projects that were either left unfinished or were just a passing idea I never turned into anything. All of these have one thing in common- I haven't done much with them...

Each week- (on Thursdays) I will post the thing "I did something with", and the thing I am going to "do something with" for next weeks post. I will do my best to finish at least one project a week and share it here on my blog. If it turns out great I will also list it for sale and post the link. I am not going to limit myself to only bead stash, if I need something I will get it, but I will do my best to work with what I already have. I am definitely going to make a point to revisit the patterns, baubles, bits, trials, and things I have laying around unfinished or barely started!

Time to start this show and tell: next week (Thursday, January 4th 2018) I will be doing something with this magazine! Beadwork October/November 2015. It has been sitting out since my Hubble blog post taunting me with a Triangle Weave beaded bead pattern by Cindy Holsclaw ;)

I am now off to dig through, organize and make a list of things "to do something with!" Wish me luck...
