2/22/18 Yearly ornaments revisited

Bead honesty- I don't actually remember making these little ornaments or what inspired the idea a dozen years ago in 2006.

I know for sure I didn't write down how I did it- that would have been smart and courteous to future me ;) Back then I don't think I really knew how important beads were to me and how I should have been making at least one of these every year! This week I revisited these ornaments and made two new ones with 2018 on them!

I did take pictures as I made one :)

From this point on I like to treat each side like it is a little panel of it's own. It helps me visualize what the number or pattern is going to look like.  I charted all of the numbers to use as a visual aid.

Once the numbers/panels are mostly complete the decreasing begins. I used different colored beads in my pattern (the turquoise colored beads) to help me determine when to step down.

I had to adjust the size all of the numbers from my original design so that they were proportional to the 8. That pesky 8....also help me if I ever have to make one of these with a 5 in it- all of the 5's I tried to make looked like upside down 2's- I won't do one of these in 2025!

Next week I am going to do something I have been saying I am going to do for a while now....I am not going to make anything, but instead update my Etsys. (if you didn't know I have two Etsy shops, one for beads and jewelry and one for my paintings and multimedia pieces!) Anyone who knows anything about uploading, describing, listing and pricing knows this is gonna take me all week- I have bracelets, necklaces, beaded earrings and paintings that all need photos taken and descriptions written!..... Next week expect a bombardment of listings, along with a blog full of pictures and possible rants!
