2016 Project: Beaded bead #16

The last bead was from Beadwork magazine's Beaded Bead contest beads from 2012. I decided that I am going to try all of the featured beads since I have the magazines. This week's bead is Bead #1 of the featured beads. "Seeing Stars" by Melinda Barta.

This bead is really small and cute. I am not 100% on my color choices with this bead, but I think it is adorable anyway. I am intrigued by the construction of this bead. It only uses 8 "stars" netted together to form a round ball. I would have expected the five pointed star to make a dodecahedron, but this one is really clever.

Where to find the pattern:
I got the pattern from the February/March 2012 Beadwork magazine (it was sold out on the site when I went looking for it)

I always want to give credit where it is due! You can find Melinda Barta on her website. She has some great free patterns and tons of great beading info!

While Googling I found a pdf from BeadingDaily that has this pattern and a few more beaded bead patterns. It is for personal use only, I am sharing this link since the magazine option is sold out! Melinda's pattern starts on page 8 of the PDF.

10 beads to go!

My remaining deadlines are:

Summer dates: (2 left) 8/25, 9/8

Fall dates: (7 beads) 9/22, 10/6, 10/20, 11/3, 11/17, 12/1, 12/15

The last bead will be "due" on 12/29!

Thanks for reading and Happy Beading! -Beth
