2016 Project: Beaded bead #12

Bead #12 is a puffy triangle beaded bead. I used size 11 Luminous Miyuki beads. These beads are the start of what will eventually be enough for a bracelet! I love these beads because they can either be puffy, or you can flatten them out for all kinds of possibilities. If you make them with Delicas they are much more rigid than with 11's.

Here they are flattened out.

Good news! There are a bunch of sources on how to make this type of bead:

If you are interested in 3D bead shapes, I think the best resource would be Geometric Beadwork by Jean Power. A great book with tons of info and inspiration.

The first time I saw this type of bead in a magazine was in the Dec/Jan 2012 Beadwork magazine "Crystal Triangulations" by Jean Power.

The technique is also beautifully used, again by Jean Power in the Beadwork June/July 2012 "All Angles Necklace". For only $2 more than the pattern you can purchase the Digital copy of the entire magazine for $6

If free is your favorite: Mikki Ferrugiaro on the Bead Mavens Blog has both pictures and a video on how to make this kind of beaded bead.

14 beads to go!

My remaining deadlines are:

Summer dates: (6 beads) 6/30, 7/14, 7/28, 8/11, 8/25, 9/8

Fall dates: (7 beads) 9/22, 10/6, 10/20, 11/3, 11/17, 12/1, 12/15

The last bead will be "due" on 12/29!

Thanks for reading and Happy Beading! -Beth
